After pledging to get into a habit of writing one review a day last week, I’ve found myself very short of free time over the last two days. So, a 17-minute thrash punk album it is!
This debut by Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (DRI) is an essential listen. It’s like the definition of thrash, containing 22 tracks, most of them under a minute.
Tracks fall into two categories – fast and ridiculously fast. In the latter we have the 18-second ‘Why’ and the nearly twice as long ‘Closest Punk’.
I’ve picked out ‘Capitalist Suck’ as a favourite, but really they’re all pretty similar, and highly enjoyable. With razorwire guitars and drums played faster that the band are capable of, I do wonder how they’re able to keep track of which song they’re playing. Maybe it hardly matters if they don’t?
